Jets Eyeing Offensive Line Talent in Latest NFL Mock Draft – But Should They Consider a Different Position?
Although the New York Jets would prefer a higher pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, they still have an opportunity to land a top prospect with the seventh overall selection.
The big question is: which direction will they take? How will new head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey approach their first draft with the Jets?
While we won’t have answers until the draft kicks off on April 24, ESPN’s Matt Miller recently predicted the Jets will use the No. 7 pick to select LSU offensive lineman Will Campbell.
Miller’s analysis on Campbell and the Jets reads:
“Despite selecting Penn State tackle Olu Fashanu at No. 11 last year, the Jets still need reinforcements in the trenches. With starting tackles Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses hitting free agency, Campbell could join Fashanu in New York’s offensive line.
“There are concerns about Campbell’s shorter arms — scouts reportedly measured them at under 33 inches last summer — but his quickness and solid understanding of angles made him a standout as a three-year starter. The Jets could start him at tackle, where his tools suggest he could quickly become an impact player, and move him to guard if needed. Either way, he’d provide New York with another young, talented lineman to build around.”
As Miller points out, there’s debate over whether Campbell will play tackle or guard at the NFL level. What’s not up for discussion, though, is his potential to be an effective and capable offensive lineman in the league.
With uncertainty surrounding Aaron Rodgers’ future, it remains unclear which quarterback the Jets’ O-line will be protecting next season.
