The Buffalo Bills once again fell short against the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs this season, with Patrick Mahomes improving his postseason record to 4-0 against Josh Allen after a narrow 32-29 victory at Arrowhead last month.
The Bills are lacking elite talent on their roster, as only two players made the 2025 Pro Bowl, and they could benefit from high-caliber reinforcements in several areas.
While the defense thrives under the “Sean McDermott Effect,” thanks to one of the best defensive coaches in the NFL, Josh Allen, supported by offensive coordinator Joe Brady, has consistently uplifted the offense—especially as the protection developed into one of the league’s best over the year.
Yet, the receiving situation leaves much to be desired, with Khalil Shakir leading the team in receiving yards this past season with a mere 821. Although Shakir, tight end Dalton Kincaid, and rookie Keon Coleman show promise, Buffalo urgently needs to enhance its options on the outside and in the slot.
Enter one of the league’s top receivers from the past five years, whose value has suffered due to injury issues but who is still capable of performing at a high level at 31 years old.
Bills Trade Target For Sale After New Development
The Los Angeles Rams have officially put former Offensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl LVI MVP, Cooper Kupp, on the trade block.
According to Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport, the Bills are identified as a top destination for the ex-OPOY wide receiver. Excitingly for Buffalo fans, Davenport has estimated Kupp’s projected trade value to be surprisingly low, though it comes with a significant financial consideration: a $ 29 million cap hit in 2025.
Davenport suggests that LA’s WR2 could be acquired for just a fourth and sixth-round pick in this year’s draft.
He adds, “For the Bills to acquire Kupp, there would need to be some financial adjustments, as Buffalo is currently $ 12.6 million over the cap, necessitating contract restructures. Kupp’s contract could be one of those in play, and transitioning from Los Angeles to Western New York would be quite a change.
However, Kupp could certainly benefit from playing alongside Josh Allen, and the Bills are in need of wide receiver support following yet another tough playoff defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs.”
Does Cooper Kupp And The Buffalo Bills Make Sense?
Jarrett Bailey of Sporting News thinks that a partnership between Cooper Kupp and Buffalo could be highly beneficial, describing it as a perfect match.
“This seems like a match made in heaven for the Super Bowl LVI MVP and the Bills. Kupp has transitioned well into a No. 2 role with the Rams as Puka Nacua has risen to become a top pass-catcher, but Kupp remains a reliable target who can create separation on any play. The Bills definitely need a player like him.”
Currently, the Bills are approximately 10−12millionovertheestimated2025salarycap,dependingonthesource,soaddingKupp’s 29 million cap hit this season could pose challenges.
However, Ian Rapoport indicates that the Rams might be open to covering part of Kupp’s salary, especially since they have over $ 40 million in cap space, even before potentially reducing some of their receivers’ salaries.
This willingness could increase the price for the All-Pro wide receiver, possibly costing a late second or early third-round draft pick. Nevertheless, with the Super Bowl window open during Josh Allen’s career—hopefully lasting at least another decade—the pressure is mounting for Buffalo’s management. The time to make a move is now!
