Ravens Expected to Sign Cowboys’ Underrated Defender
The Baltimore Ravens are anticipated to acquire a lesser-known defender from the Dallas Cowboys during the NFL offseason.
There’s been ongoing discussion about how the Ravens need to strengthen their edge rusher position, as their depth behind Kyle Van Noy and Odafe Oweh is lacking. While Baltimore recorded 54 sacks last season, a significant portion came from Van Noy and Oweh, meaning they could still benefit from adding another pass rusher.
However, the Ravens face financial challenges, making it unlikely they’ll be able to pursue major free-agent signings.
Despite this, Marcus Mosher of The 33rd Team has suggested a potential target for Baltimore, predicting that they will sign Cowboys edge rusher Chauncey Golston to a two-year, $12 million contract in March.
“The Ravens may not be heavy spenders in free agency, but they often find players who step up in key roles,” Mosher noted. “Chauncey Golston is a rising talent who can play across the defensive line in various schemes. He became a full-time starter in Dallas last year and possesses the size and length Baltimore values. While not a household name, Golston is a proven contributor who would thrive in Baltimore’s defense.”
Golston is coming off his best season in the NFL, recording 56 tackles, 5.5 sacks, an interception, and five passes defended in 2024. The 26-year-old, who played at the University of Iowa, was drafted by the Cowboys in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Although his first three seasons were quiet, with just 3.5 sacks between 2021 and 2023, Golston had a breakout year in 2024, making him a strong potential acquisition for a team like Baltimore when free agency begins.
