Texas Longhorns Secure Commitment from 4-Star In-State Offensive Tackle
The Texas Longhorns have bolstered their 2026 recruiting class with a major commitment. Following a stellar 2025 recruiting cycle that saw them secure the No. 1 class in the nation, Texas is already making strides for the 2026 cycle.
As reported by On3’s Hayes Fawcett, the Longhorns have earned the commitment of four-star offensive tackle Maximus Wright from Melissa, Texas. Standing at 6-foot-7 and weighing 290 pounds, Wright chose Texas over other offers from Michigan and SMU, among others.
Currently holding 22 offers in total, Wright has drawn interest from programs such as Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, Florida, and Texas Tech.
Rivals.com ranks Wright as a four-star recruit, listing him as the No. 125 player in the country, the No. 18 player in Texas, and the No. 13 offensive tackle nationally. Meanwhile, the 247Sports Composite Ranking gives him a three-star rating, placing him at No. 409 overall, No. 33 among offensive tackles, and No. 55 in the state of Texas.
Wright took multiple visits to Texas before making his commitment, including a recent trip on January 25. He’s scheduled for an official visit on June 20 this summer.
With this commitment, Wright joins a 2026 class that ranks No. 8 nationally, alongside other top prospects like five-star QB Dial Bell and four-star wide receiver Chris Stewart.
