Ohio State has finalized a new seven-year contract with head coach Ryan Day, reportedly worth $12.5 million annually, the school announced on Thursday, according to NBC Sports’ Nicole Auerbach.

The deal, which extends through the 2031 season, places Day as the second-highest-paid coach in college football, trailing only Georgia’s Kirby Smart, as reported by Bill Rabinowitz and Joey Kaufman of The Columbus Dispatch.

Day’s new contract comes after he led Ohio State to a national championship last season, guiding the team to a 14-2 overall record and securing College Football Playoff victories against Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and Notre Dame.

At 45, Day has built a strong record of 70-10 as head coach of Ohio State.
