Maxx Crosby’s future with the Raiders is reportedly “up in the air” as he inches closer to the end of his current contract.
The Las Vegas Raiders endured a disappointing 2024 season, finishing with a 4-13 record and securing the sixth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. As a result, the team parted ways with head coach Antonio Pierce and is now shifting into offseason mode, where significant roster moves could be on the horizon.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the long-term future of star pass rusher Maxx Crosby in Las Vegas is uncertain. Crosby is set to become eligible for another contract extension, with his current deal running through 2026.
With Pete Carroll taking over as head coach and John Spytek stepping in as general manager, the new regime may determine that Crosby’s price tag is too steep for a rebuilding team.
Despite this, Crosby has been vocal about his commitment to the franchise, expressing his desire to be a “Raider for life.” He appears willing to stick it out in Las Vegas, but the team may have to weigh the benefits of trading him for a haul of draft picks to speed up their rebuild. The Raiders still lack a reliable quarterback, and by the time they find one, Crosby may no longer be in his prime.
Rapoport and Pelissero also mentioned Cowboys star Micah Parsons as another player facing a similar situation.

Ahead of Super Bowl 59, Maxx Crosby reaffirmed his commitment to the Raiders in a recent interview, expressing his desire to lead the team into the future.
Speaking on Thursday, Crosby emphasized that he would rather help build a winning culture in Las Vegas than be traded to an already-established contender. However, he acknowledged that his faith in the organization has wavered at times.
“I’ve had doubts in the past,” Crosby admitted. “This past year was the toughest of my career—playing through injury, dealing with a 10-game losing streak. It really makes you start questioning a lot of things.”
The arrivals of Pete Carroll as head coach and John Spytek as general manager appear to have restored Crosby’s confidence in the franchise. Additionally, having Tom Brady as a minority owner adds another layer of intrigue to the team’s direction.
