“Out of My Hands” – Tee Higgins Shares New Thoughts on Bengals Future Ahead of Super Bowl LIX
Cincinnati faces significant contract decisions in the coming weeks.
CINCINNATI — Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins spoke with Fox 19’s Joe Danneman before tonight’s Super Bowl, expressing his desire to stay in Cincinnati on a new contract. However, he acknowledged that the situation is beyond his control when it comes to keeping the team’s core intact.
“Of course, we all want to keep the main pieces together, including Mike Gesicki,” Higgins said. “We want to build something special here in Cincinnati. But it’s not in my hands right now. I just have to focus on what I can do, and if that means going to another team, then that’s what happens.”
Higgins, who achieved a career-high 10 receiving touchdowns this season (sixth-best in the NFL), is looking forward to taking a break from football before free agency begins.
“I’m just trying to stay away from it right now,” he said. “Clear my mind, step back from the game, especially after tonight. I’ll take a few weeks off, and then things will pick up in March with free agency. I’d love to stay in Cincinnati. I love the city, the fans, the coaching staff—everything we’re building. But it’s out of my hands.”
"Obviously, we want to build something here in Cincy, but it's not in my hands right now. I've got to do what I've got to do and if that's go to another team, you know, that's what happens."
