Michigan is pursuing Tennessee defensive line commit Tyson Bacon
Even though Tyson Bacon, a highly ranked three-star defensive lineman, is committed to Tennessee, Michigan and its defensive line coach Lou Esposito are still working hard to get him to take an official visit. Bacon, ranked among the top 300 recruits, is a priority for Esposito, who sees significant potential for development in him. Despite Bacon’s current commitment to the Volunteers, Michigan is aggressively trying to bring him into the fold.
Bacon has strong ties to Michigan, despite being born in Georgia. He has deep family connections to the state, and he has expressed that he was “born in Georgia but made in Michigan,” underscoring the significant influence the state has had on him. These ties could give Michigan an advantage in his recruitment as the Wolverines make their case.
Tennessee DL commit Tyson Bacon will visit Michigan March 29.

Though many recruiting outlets have ranked Bacon as a three-star prospect, Michigan believes he is underrated. Esposito sees him as a raw but coachable talent with immense upside. Bacon has the physical attributes to succeed at the next level, and with the right coaching, he could become a dominant force on the defensive line. Given Esposito’s eye for talent and Michigan’s strong track record of developing defensive linemen, the Wolverines could be an ideal fit for Bacon.
With Bacon’s size, agility, and strong work ethic, he is well-suited for success in the Big Ten. As Esposito continues to build a rapport with Bacon and his family, Michigan remains hopeful of securing a commitment from him, even while he is currently pledged to Tennessee. If Michigan can convince Bacon, he could be a rising star on the Wolverines’ defensive line for years to come.
