The Minnesota Vikings are predicted to make a trade in the 2025 NFL Draft to acquire an Ohio State Buckeyes star.
As the draft approaches, Ohio State is sending several highly skilled players to the NFL, and one of the most notable is defensive lineman Tyleik Williams. Williams is expected to be a first-round pick, and if not, he won’t fall past the second round.
The question remains: where will Williams land in the draft? CBS Sports recently released a mock draft predicting a significant trade in the latter part of the first round. According to their projection, the Vikings will trade the No. 24 pick to the Kansas City Chiefs, moving down to No. 31 overall.
With that 31st pick, the Vikings are projected to select Williams, strengthening their defensive line. Williams would be a great fit for Minnesota, as he has the ability to break down offensive lines, pressure the quarterback, and contribute against the run.
In the 2024 season at Ohio State, Williams posted 46 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a defended pass, though his influence on games went beyond those numbers. NFL.com compared him to Detroit Lions defensive lineman Alim McNeill, suggesting Williams could make a significant impact for any team that drafts him.
At 6-foot-3 and nearly 330 pounds, Williams would bring both size and athleticism to the Vikings’ defensive front, offering the presence they need. This scenario could work out perfectly for both Williams and Minnesota.
While the 2025 NFL Draft is still some time away, the Vikings are a team to watch as a potential landing spot for Williams.
