COLUMBUS, Ohio — Stan Drayton, a former assistant coach at Ohio State, is making his way to State College.

Earlier this week, Drayton was appointed as the running backs coach for Penn State after spending three years as the head coach at Temple. He returns to the Big Ten to join a team with national championship dreams for 2025, along with one of the top backfields in the country.

A Cleveland native, Drayton served on the coaching staff at Ohio State from 2011 to 2014. He began as the receivers coach in his first year and transitioned to running backs coach for the last three seasons, culminating in a national championship win in 2014.

Following his four years in Columbus, Drayton took on the role of running backs coach for the Chicago Bears. Over his career, he boasts 32 years of coaching experience, including 25 years specifically focused on running backs.

Drayton is the second former Buckeye to join Penn State this offseason, following defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, who took a similar position on James Franklin’s staff in January.
