Eagles’ Lane Johnson Criticized Chiefs’ Parade Shirts in Pre-Super Bowl Speech
The Philadelphia Eagles dominated Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, securing a 40-22 victory that felt even more one-sided than the final score suggested.
As the Eagles celebrated their win in New Orleans, they released a video featuring speeches from various players the night before the game.
Veteran offensive tackle Lane Johnson delivered a motivational message, referencing the celebratory shirts worn by some of the Chiefs at their championship parade after they defeated the Eagles in the Super Bowl two years earlier.
The shirts proudly claimed that the Chiefs didn’t allow a sack in their victory over the Eagles, which Johnson brought up in his speech:
“They’re gonna get f—– up tomorrow,” Johnson said. “Just remember the f—— shirts they had on at their parade. Keep that in mind while y’all are annihilating [Mahomes] tomorrow.”
The Eagles went on to sack Mahomes six times and intercepted him twice in Super Bowl LIX, with rookie Cooper DeJean even returning one for a touchdown.
Looks like Johnson’s pregame words made an impact.
