Red Sox Bringing Back 14-Year Veteran Following Alex Bregman Signing
The Boston Red Sox are making more moves.
After signing former Houston Astros All-Star Alex Bregman last week, the team isn’t stopping there. Red Sox president and CEO Sam Kennedy mentioned on Monday that the team remains open to further additions if the right opportunity arises.
And it didn’t take long for another move to happen.
The Red Sox are reportedly reuniting with veteran pitcher Adam Ottavino, bringing him back on a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.
“Adam Ottavino to the Red Sox,” Ottavino confirmed. “Minors deal with camp invite.”
Ottavino, a 14-year MLB veteran, has a career ERA of 3.49. He pitched for the Red Sox in 2021, recording a 4.21 ERA in 69 appearances. Over the past three years, he played for the New York Mets, posting a 3.14 ERA in 192 appearances.
In 2023, he finished with a 3.21 ERA in 66 games, following a 2.06 ERA in 2022.
Ottavino’s experience and success make him an interesting addition to Spring Training as the Red Sox continue to add veteran depth to their bullpen.
