Paolo Banchero’s Trash Talk with Former 76ers Forward Goes Viral
The Philadelphia 76ers have seen many changes in their supporting cast over the years, and during Thursday’s NBA games, one of their former fan favorites became the focus of a viral clip.
In the 2021 offseason, the Sixers signed veteran forward Georges Niang, who was well-liked by fans for his sharp shooting and energetic play. Known for his willingness to mix it up with opponents, Niang was caught trash-talking Orlando Magic All-Star Paolo Banchero during a break for free throws. The exchange quickly gained attention after Banchero’s blunt response.

Niang began the season with the Cleveland Cavaliers but was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in the De’Andre Hunter deal. Banchero, however, got the last word, as his team, the Magic, went on to win the game 114-108. Banchero had a standout performance, finishing with 36 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists.
Since leaving the Sixers, Niang has remained a solid role player in the NBA. Over 55 games with the Cavs and Hawks, he’s averaging 9.1 points and 3.8 rebounds while shooting 40.6% from three. Now with the Hawks, he’ll look to establish a rhythm alongside All-Star guard Trae Young.
