Saints Frontrunners for ‘Five-Tool’ 1,212-Yard Big-Name Wide Receiver

Saints Linked to ‘Five-Tool’ 1,212-Yard Wide Receiver

Could the New Orleans Saints be adding a star wide receiver to their roster?

As the Saints prepare for the upcoming NFL Draft in April, they currently hold the No. 9 overall pick. After a disappointing 5-12 season that saw them finish last in the NFC South, New Orleans is looking to make significant improvements, especially after the hiring of new head coach Kellen Moore. With the ninth pick, the team has a chance to secure high-level talent unless they opt to trade the selection.

So, who should the Saints target? Pro Football Focus recently released a mock draft simulator, suggesting that Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III could be a great fit for New Orleans. According to Pro Football Focus, Burden is an ideal “five-tool” player, showcasing his versatility and ability to succeed at any wide receiver position in any offense. His well-rounded skill set makes him a top choice for the Saints.

Burden would be a dynamic addition if he’s available at No. 9. In the 2023 season, he recorded an impressive 1,212 receiving yards with 86 catches and nine touchdowns in just 13 games. In 2024, he had 61 receptions for 676 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games.

The Saints could certainly use another talented receiver, and Burden would be an excellent pick-up. Here’s hoping New Orleans can bring him aboard in the upcoming NFL Draft.
