4-Star Running Back Could See Himself Committing to FSU Football
Florida State has positioned itself as a top contender in the recruitment of elite running back Ezavier Crowell.
Reclassifying has become an increasingly popular path for prospects looking to enter college sooner. Last month, Crowell, a four-star running back, announced he was moving up to the 2026 class, even though he had just finished his sophomore season last fall. Despite being a year younger than many of his new peers, Crowell has already proven himself as one of the top ball carriers in the country.
With several major programs in pursuit, including Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Texas, and Florida State, Crowell is a highly sought-after recruit. Florida State sent offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn to visit the standout last month, and Malzahn, who previously recruited Crowell while at UCF, could play a key role in bringing him to Tallahassee.
Though the Seminoles had a down year last season, Crowell has expressed interest in potentially joining them. According to On3’s Chad Simmons, Crowell stated that he expects to commit to one of his five finalists: Florida State, Georgia, Texas, Alabama, or Auburn.
Crowell has already scheduled an official visit to Florida State from June 15-17 and plans to visit his other four finalists during the same time frame.

During his sophomore season, Crowell rushed 168 times for 1,964 yards and 31 touchdowns, adding 258 yards and two touchdowns on nine receptions. He also returned a kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown. Crowell surpassed 100 yards rushing in 10 games, including a career-high 250 yards and a touchdown in a win over Baker High School.
Standing at 5-foot-11, 205 pounds, Crowell is ranked the No. 63 overall prospect, No. 4 running back, and No. 5 recruit in Alabama for the 2026 class by 247Sports.
Crowell is teammates with Florida State target and four-star quarterback Landon Duckworth, who also shares a connection with Malzahn.
Florida State’s 2026 recruiting class currently includes seven verbal commitments, ranked No. 12 nationally, and features four-star running back Amari Clemons.
