San Diego State Secures Commitment from 2026 Tight End

San Diego State has shifted its focus to the 2026 recruiting class after wrapping up its 2025 high school football commitments earlier this month.

The Aztecs added their first 2026 recruit this weekend with the commitment of Campolindo tight end Crosby Kelly. A versatile two-way player, Kelly received an offer from San Diego State in May before his junior season and recently earned an offer from Penn. However, he chose the Aztecs on Saturday.

During his sophomore season, Crosby recorded six receptions and 5.5 sacks, and he nearly doubled his production last year. He led his team in sacks with 9.5 and tallied 62 tackles, including 15 for a loss. On offense, Kelly helped block for a 1,200-yard rusher and caught 14 passes for 171 yards and one touchdown.

San Diego State’s 2025 recruiting class features a balanced mix of high school players and transfer portal additions.

Head coach Sean Lewis emphasized the importance of elite high school recruiting in shaping the program’s future. He pointed to relationships in California, Phoenix, and Las Vegas as key areas for continued success, with the transfer portal being used to fill gaps in the roster.

Kelly is the fourth high school recruit in San Diego State’s 2026 class, joining offensive players such as quarterback Derek Garcia from Ventura High, offensive tackle Malik White from Rancho Cucamonga, and running back Brandon Smith from Central East (Fresno), who all committed earlier this year.

San Diego State will kick off the 2025 season, the second under Coach Lewis, against Stony Brook at Snapdragon Stadium on August 28.
