Hunter Dickinson delivered an outstanding performance for Kansas on Monday night, and Bill Self didn’t hold back in praising him afterward.
“I thought he was clearly the best player on the floor,” Self said. “We were dominated on the boards, but if it weren’t for Hunter, it would’ve been even worse.”
Dickinson was a force, scoring 32 points and leading Kansas to a 71-64 victory over Colorado. Although he had been spending more time on the perimeter in recent games, he returned to dominating in the paint against the Buffaloes, a style of play that Self was pleased to see.
“Hunter worked the block more—he’s been on the perimeter a lot lately—and did a lot of good things inside,” Self noted.
Kansas needed every bit of Dickinson’s performance. Despite struggles on the boards and shooting, his presence in the paint helped the team maintain control in a tight game.
As Kansas works to break back into the Top 25, performances like Dickinson’s will be crucial moving forward. If he continues playing at this level, Self will have little to complain about.
