Kickers, defensive linemen, and linebackers are scheduled to participate in workouts at the 2025 NFL Combine on Thursday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Clemson linebacker Barrett Carter spoke with the media on Wednesday.
Regarding the possibility of being drafted by his hometown team, the Atlanta Falcons, and playing alongside former Clemson stars like Grady Jarrett, Ray-Ray McCloud, Ruke Orhorhoro, Bradley Pinion, and A.J. Terrell, he said: “That would be a special experience. I grew up watching the Falcons and attending their games, so it would mean a lot to me. Plus, having so many Clemson guys on the team would make it even more special if I got to play with them.”
When asked what he looks forward to showcasing during the drills, he replied: “I plan to give it my all and enjoy the experience. I don’t have anything specific in mind; I’m just excited to be out there having fun. I remember watching this event as a kid, so it’s amazing to finally have the chance to showcase my God-given talents. I’m really looking forward to the opportunity.”
On quarterback Cade Klubnik, who passed for 3,639 passing yards with 36 touchdowns and rushed for 463 yards with seven touchdowns:
“I could talk endlessly about Cade. From the moment he arrived on campus as a freshman, he has been the same incredible person, and I know he will keep it up. He’s genuinely one of the most remarkable individuals I’ve ever known. He has taken charge of our Bible study groups and our football team; he naturally leads in any setting he’s in. While everyone recognizes his achievements on the field, what often goes unnoticed is that he’s the first to arrive at the facility and the last to leave. I know that’s a common phrase, but Cade truly exemplifies that dedication every single day.”
On the 24-38 loss to No. 5 Texas in the first round of the 2024 College Football Playoffs. Carter had six tackles in the game:
“It was really exciting to see Clemson back in the playoffs. Of course, I wish we could have gone further and won the championship, but it was an incredible experience. With the way college football is evolving, having home playoff games like that was a great time. Walking into Texas and feeling the crowd rooting against us was a thrilling experience that I wouldn’t change for anything. I know my teammates will keep that legacy alive and build on the success of the season we had.”
On which Clemson player everyone will be talking about next year:
“Wade Woodaz – his last name really speaks for itself. He’s one of the most impactful individuals I’ve ever met. Wade is an outstanding leader, a great person, a loyal friend, and a true brother. When he enters a room, he automatically takes charge. People pay attention when Wade speaks. On the field, he’s incredibly versatile and performs at an exceptional level. This year, he’s definitely going to surprise a lot of people.”
On which Clemson freshman from last season he would bet his first NFL paycheck on making it to the NFL:
“Sammy Brown – is incredibly wise for his age. As a biology major, he’s one of the brightest individuals I’ve ever encountered. It’s uncommon to find someone like Sammy in today’s football landscape. He was clearly prepared to compete, showcasing impressive physicality, speed, and intelligence all at a high level. I learned a lot from him, even though I’m three or four years his senior. While everyone knows his name, he really stands out as one of the most talented and intelligent players I’ve been around. He will undoubtedly continue to prove why he’s among the best.”
