Scott Frost returned to Orlando Executive Airport on December 8, 2024, to find a UCF Knights team vastly changed since he last walked away from the jetway to take the Nebraska Cornhuskers position in December 2017.
Not only was his team coming off a 4-8 season, but the landscape of college football has shifted significantly in this new NIL era, allowing rosters to change rapidly with new coaching staff. One of Frost’s initial tasks was to retain the already committed 2025 recruiting class while also addressing immediate needs on his roster.
One of the gaps to fill was the departure of experienced long snapper Gage King. King was a sixth-year senior at UCF after transferring from the Arizona State Sun Devils.
UCF announced that Frost has recruited Dalton Riggs, a long snapper from the BYU Cougars, who recently finished an 11-2 season. Riggs participated in 12 games last season and is known for his reliability.

Riggs was regarded as a four-star recruit from Eagle, Idaho in 2019 and has two years of eligibility remaining.
Last season, BYU head coach Kalani Sitake led his team to a No. 6 national ranking, positioning them as strong contenders for the Big 12 title. However, they experienced consecutive losses to the competitive Kansas Jayhawks in Provo and the eventual Big 12 champion Arizona State Sun Devils.
Expect to see more dynamic roster changes from Frost and his coaching staff when the spring transfer portal opens on April 16.
