Zech Fort, a four-star safety from IMG Academy, is committed to the Georgia Bulldogs, but the USC Trojans are making a strong push to flip his commitment. Fort, ranked No. 127 overall in the 2026 class, No. 10 among safeties, and No. 19 from Florida, has garnered attention from several schools, including USC, which continues to pursue him despite his pledge to Georgia.
Fort committed to Georgia on January 30, citing the program’s proven track record of sending players to the NFL. He had previously spoken with former USC defensive backs coach Donte Williams, who now holds the same position at Georgia. However, USC hasn’t backed off its pursuit of Fort. During IMG Academy’s pro day on February 27, numerous programs, including USC, continued to recruit him.
Fort has acknowledged the increased attention from schools like Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Miami, Florida, and USC. Although he’s still in communication with several programs, he remains committed to Georgia and is enjoying the recruiting process. “I still feel good about Georgia,” he stated, emphasizing his satisfaction with his commitment.
Fort visited USC on March 6 for his second unofficial visit and has been impressed with coach Lincoln Riley’s efforts to turn the Trojans’ program around. He’s also familiar with USC’s campus, having been there multiple times due to his proximity at IMG Academy.
Fort is scheduled to visit Georgia again on June 13. If USC can secure another visit, they could strengthen their chances of flipping his commitment. USC’s secondary coach, Doug Belk, is the lead recruiter for Fort, and the Trojans are continuing to make a strong push for him.
USC is currently enjoying recruiting success, ranking No. 2 in the 2026 class according to On3 and No. 1 according to 247Sports. While they don’t yet have a safety committed in the class, they have secured commitments from two four-star cornerbacks, RJ Sermons and Brandon Lockhart, both from California.
