The Los Angeles Rams should consider pursuing a trade for Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs. With Matthew Stafford officially returning, the Rams need to focus on building the right supporting cast for him next season. While Puka Nacua is a solid No. 1 receiver, and the team expects to keep him, Cooper Kupp is likely to be traded, and both Demarcus Robinson and Tutu Atwell will be free agents soon. This creates a potential gap in the receiving corps that could become a significant concern.
The free-agent market isn’t overflowing with top-tier wide receivers, especially now that Tee Higgins is likely staying with the Cincinnati Bengals. So, a trade could be a more viable option. Doubs, who had a less than ideal role as Green Bay’s No. 2 receiver behind Jayden Reed last season, could be a low-cost target. He may not be a high-profile player, but with the right coaching from Sean McVay, he could develop into a valuable asset. At just 24 years old and standing 6-foot-2, Doubs has shown promise with 46 receptions for 601 yards and four touchdowns last season.
Though acquiring Doubs wouldn’t solve all of the Rams’ receiving issues, he could provide some much-needed depth and give the team the flexibility to explore other options in free agency and the draft.
