Fleet Coach Courtney Kessel shared a heartfelt message of appreciation for both his team and fans after their convincing 5-2 victory over the New York Sirens. He commended his players for their hard work, resilience, and teamwork, emphasizing that the win was a true collective effort. “Every player gave their all, and it was a total team performance,” Kessel remarked. “Their dedication and focus were outstanding, and this victory speaks to their commitment.”

Hilary Knight’s first-ever PWHL hat trick led the Boston Fleet to a 5-2 victory over the New York Sirens, completing a season series sweep. The Fleet secured the win with a strong third-period performance, scoring two goals and limiting the Sirens to fewer than 10 shots on goal for the first time in the game.

The Sirens, currently on a nine-game losing streak and at the bottom of the PWHL standings, came out strong. Elizabeth Giguère gave New York the lead with a tip-in off Sarah Fillier’s backhand shot at 7:21 in the first period. New York nearly extended its advantage following a turnover by Sophie Shirley, but Boston goalie Aerin Frankel made one of her 38 saves to keep the score at 1-0.

The Fleet quickly responded when Alina Müller tied the game at 14:48 with a tip-in from Knight. In the second period, Knight scored twice, once on a power play and once on a breakaway, giving Boston a 3-1 lead. Although Sarah Fillier’s goal brought the Sirens within one, the Fleet held on to a 3-2 advantage going into the third.

The Fleet dominated in the final period, outshooting New York 5-0 early on. Jill Saulnier assisted Susanna Tapani for a goal, making it 4-2, and Knight sealed the victory with her third goal in the final seconds.

“I’m really fortunate to get my first hat trick in the league,” Knight said. “It was an exciting win, and getting those three points was huge for us.”
