Hubert Davis’ team has been scoring all over the court. Can sharing the load get this team in the Tournament?
The UNC basketball program has reached a scoring milestone that has never been accomplished in its rich history. In their last four games, at least five Tar Heels have recorded double-digit points.

In the matchup against Virginia Tech, the scoring lineup featured Ian Jackson (19), Seth Trimble (17), RJ Davis (15), Drake Powell (13), and Ven-Allen Lubin (10).
Against Miami, Lubin led with 19 points, followed by Powell (16), Davis (13), Jackson (11), Jae’Lyn Withers (11), and Trimble (10).
In their game against Florida State, Davis scored 20 points, with Trimble adding 17, and both Withers and Lubin contributing 10 points each, along with JIn the match against Virginia Tech, the scorers were Ian Jackson (19), Seth Trimble (17), RJ Davis (15), Drake Powell (13), and Ven-Allen Lubin (10).

Finally, in the game against Virginia, Withers and Jackson each scored 16 points, while Lubin had 14, Davis 12, and Powell 11.
These scores highlight some consistent players like RJ Davis and Ven-Allen Lubin, alongside others who appeared in various games. Although Seth Trimble wasn’t present in all four games, he often ranked as the second highest scorer in those he did play.
This scoring diversity bodes well for North Carolina as they gear up for their most critical matchup of the season against Duke this Saturday. Although the return to a traditional lineup didn’t yield success against Clemson, UNC has shown improved cohesion since then, demonstrating their ability to score from multiple areas.
The offense no longer relies solely on guards taking turns to create shots; rather, there’s sufficient space for posts to work inside, supported by shooters. Lubin’s impressive play and his stronghold on the starting center position have compelled opposing teams to double-team him, creating more openings for UNC’s shooters. Impressively, these shooters have maintained a 51% success rate from three-point range over the last four games.
Overall, this offensive performance indicates that UNC possesses the capability to match Duke’s size and talent, provided they can replicate this effort on Saturday night. North Carolina doesn’t rely on a single player whose absence Duke can exploit to disrupt their overall scoring.
Defeating the Blue Devils will still require a monumental effort from Hubert Davis’s team, but given their current momentum, they’ll be optimistic about their chances if they continue to share the scoring responsibilities.
