Eddie George, the legendary running back for the Ohio State Buckeyes, has accepted a new challenge as the head coach of the Bowling Green Falcons.

The news was first reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel, who revealed late Saturday that George was finalizing a deal with Bowling Green.

Before this, George spent four seasons as the head coach of the Tennessee State Tigers, where he posted a 24-22 record. Most recently, he led Tennessee State to a 9-4 season and an Ohio Valley Conference championship, earning the Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year honor.

The 51-year-old has signed a five-year contract with Bowling Green.

George is widely remembered for his stellar four-year career at Ohio State from 1992 to 1995, culminating in a Heisman Trophy win during his senior season. That year, he rushed for 1,826 yards and 23 touchdowns, leading both the Big Ten and the nation in the latter category.

Following his college success, George was selected by the Houston Oilers as the 14th overall pick in the 1996 NFL Draft. He spent the first eight years of his career with the franchise, which later became the Tennessee Titans.

During his NFL career, George established himself as one of the top halfbacks in the league, earning four Pro Bowl selections from 1997 to 2000. His best season came in 2000, when he rushed for 1,509 yards and 14 touchdowns.
