USC Trojans’ JuJu Watkins and Michigan’s Syla Sword Engage in Tense Moment in Big Ten Tournament Semifinals

The USC Trojans women’s basketball team triumphed over the Michigan Wolverines, 82-70, securing a spot in the Big Ten Championship. However, the game took a fiery turn in the fourth quarter when USC’s JuJu Watkins and Michigan’s Syla Sword had a tense moment after both players jumped for a rebound.

With under a minute remaining, both Watkins and Sword crashed to the floor after contesting the ball. Watkins, visibly frustrated, headed towards Sword, but a USC teammate intervened before the situation escalated. The referee called a foul on Watkins, but by that point, USC held a commanding 10-point lead.

The game was intense throughout, with the score swinging back and forth until USC pulled away in the final period. Sword, a freshman for Michigan, had an impressive performance, scoring 26 points and grabbing six rebounds, leading the Wolverines in both categories. She has had a standout season, averaging 6.1 rebounds per game and showing great promise.

Both Watkins, a sophomore, and Sword are emerging as key players for their teams, and this rivalry between the two young stars promises to be an exciting matchup for years to come, adding to the intrigue whenever USC faces Michigan.
