The Cincinnati Reds made several roster changes on Wednesday, sending six players to minor league camp.
Tyler Callihan, Rece Hinds, Noelvi Marte, Connor Phillips, and Yosver Zulueta were all reassigned.
While these moves weren’t unexpected, the decision to send down Noelvi Marte stands out. After serving an 80-game suspension in 2024 for violating MLB’s performance-enhancing drug policy, Marte struggled, hitting just .210 in 66 games.
The 23-year-old was told he would need to earn a spot in camp, but he only managed a 3-for-22 performance with eight strikeouts this spring.
There are now 46 players remaining in Major League camp.
