Broncos ‘In the Running’ to Sign Former 49ers LB Dre Greenlaw

The Texans and Falcons are also vying for Greenlaw’s services.

The Denver Broncos are “in the running” to sign former San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw, according to The Athletic’s Mike Silver, who reported this on Monday as the NFL’s legal tampering period began.

The Houston Texans and Atlanta Falcons are also competing for Greenlaw’s attention, Silver adds.

A fifth-round pick in 2019, Greenlaw has accumulated 295 solo tackles, 18 tackles for loss, three interceptions, and 3.5 sacks over 64 career games, all with San Francisco. He was named a PFWA All-Rookie and started 56 games, earning solid grades from Pro Football Focus for his run-stopping skills.

Entering his age-29 season, Greenlaw—who missed 15 games last year due to a torn Achilles—brings some risk, as he hasn’t played a full season since his rookie year. However, he would immediately take over the starting role left open by ILB Cody Barton, a free agent, and is seen as an upgrade over his predecessor.

Spotrac estimates Greenlaw could earn an average annual salary of $6.2 million on his next contract.

In addition to Greenlaw, the Broncos are also looking to sign 49ers safety Talanoa Hufanga, as reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Monday.
