Royals Receive Encouraging News on Injured Pitcher
A Kansas City Royals pitcher is making strides in his recovery.
Looking to build on their success from 2024 and make a postseason return in 2025, the Royals made several key additions during the offseason, including bringing back Michael Wacha and Michael Lorenzen, as well as adding Carlos Estevez and Jonathan India. But some players already on the roster are also showing promising progress.
Right-handed pitcher Alec Marsh has been dealing with shoulder soreness, but MLB.com’s Anne Rogers shared a positive update on Monday, stating that Marsh responded well to his first live batting practice session on Sunday.
“I don’t feel like I’m too far behind, given how things have been progressing and how I’ve been recovering,” Marsh said. “It’s been going well. The key is managing the higher pitch counts as we move forward, and hopefully, this issue will remain in the past.”
Last season, Marsh made 25 starts and one relief appearance for the Royals, finishing with a 9-9 record, a 4.53 ERA, and 123 strikeouts over 129 innings.
If Marsh can stay healthy and avoid the injured list, the Royals will gain an additional asset for their pitching staff, whether as a spot starter or a long-relief option.
This is certainly a promising update, and getting Marsh back soon would further strengthen the team’s pitching depth.
