Bruins Extend Offer to Hometown 2028 Defensive Back
The UCLA Bruins are looking ahead to the future by targeting 2028 defensive back Pole Moala from Southern California. The Bruins made their move by offering Moala, a local talent from Lawndale, California, just a short distance from the UCLA campus, further emphasizing their focus on in-state recruiting. Moala announced the offer on social media Tuesday.
Ranked as the No. 2 defensive back in California’s 2028 class and the seventh-best recruit overall, Moala is seen as a rising star with huge potential. At just a freshman in high school, he has already received 15 college offers, including from major programs like Florida State and Miami, along with interest from UCLA’s archrival, USC.

The 6-foot, 165-pound safety still has years to develop both mentally and physically, which means by the time he’s ready for college football, he could be an even more dynamic player. UCLA clearly believes in Moala’s future, offering him a spot in their program early in his high school career. He becomes only the third recruit from the 2028 class to receive an offer, joining quarterback Graham Simpson and wide receiver Eric McFarland.
Should Moala commit, he would have the opportunity to work under first-year safeties coach Gabe Lynn, a former defensive back at Oklahoma and NFL practice squad player. Lynn’s expertise would be invaluable in helping Moala transition to the collegiate level and maximize his potential.
As UCLA prepares for the 2025 season, it will be interesting to see which recruits, including Moala, visit the Bruins’ campus in the coming months.
