Dallas Cowboys trade with Titans for former first-round linebacker
The Cowboys have bolstered their linebacker corps with a key addition. Heading into free agency, Dallas recognized the need for defensive improvements, and on Wednesday, they made another impactful move to strengthen their roster for 2025.
According to a team announcement, Dallas traded a 2025 sixth-round pick to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for linebacker Kenneth Murray and a seventh-round selection. This marks the Cowboys’ second trade of the day, following their acquisition of defensive back Kaiir Elam from the Buffalo Bills.
Murray becomes the second linebacker added by Dallas during free agency, joining Jack Sanborn. A former first-round pick by the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2020 draft out of Oklahoma, Murray has struggled with injuries throughout his career with both the Chargers and Titans. However, when healthy, he has been highly effective. In his rookie year, Murray posted 107 tackles and a sack, and despite a somewhat inconsistent performance in 2021 and 2022, he had a standout season in 2023, recording 107 tackles and a career-high three sacks.
Last season with the Titans, Murray continued to impress, tallying 95 tackles, a new career-high 3.5 sacks, and an interception.
In Dallas, Murray will help fill a significant gap at linebacker and provide a versatile presence in the middle of their defense, offering a true sideline-to-sideline force.
