Colorado Buffaloes’ Shedeur Sanders Earns First-Round Grade for 2025 NFL Draft
Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders remains one of the most talked-about players in the 2025 NFL Draft class. Recently, Sanders was ranked 19th overall on a top-50 big board with a first-round grade.
Although the pre-draft process is still ongoing, with pro days and team visits yet to take place, analysts are starting to finalize their evaluations. ESPN NFL draft analyst Jordan Reid has Sanders ranked as the 19th overall player, a spot few analysts agree on. Sanders is either near the top of the draft boards or not included at all, and Reid believes a middle-first-round grade is entirely justified.
While Sanders may not possess elite athletic traits, he compensates with his mental toughness, accuracy, ball placement, durability, and overall poise. Although some may not rank him at the top due to a lack of standout physical traits, his impressive collegiate production and NFL-ready frame make him a strong first-round prospect.
Reid wrote, “Sanders is the most polished passer in the 2025 class. He posted 4,134 passing yards, 37 touchdowns, and just 10 interceptions in 2024, finishing with an FBS-high 74% completion percentage and an impressive 6.5% off-target percentage, which ranked third in the FBS.”
He added, “While Sanders needs to work on playing with quicker timing and getting the ball out faster (his 2.96 seconds to throw ranked 110th in the FBS), he remains a first-round talent thanks to his accuracy and ability to handle pressure, despite being sacked 42 times and lacking elite mobility.”
