Adam Pelech returns to the lineup after missing Sunday’s game, while Alexander Romanov and Adam Boqvist are sick

Adam Pelech participated in the New York Islanders’ morning skate on Tuesday at PPG Paints Arena, following his absence from Sunday’s game against the Florida Panthers due to a lower-body injury.

This season, Pelech has recorded 17 assists, 65 blocked shots, and 68 hits across 45 games. The experienced defenseman is also crucial for the penalty kill, particularly as the Islanders prepare to face the Penguins, who boast the eighth-best power play in the league (24.3%).

“Having him back is going to be beneficial for us,” said Head Coach Patrick Roy about Pelech. “He’s been performing exceptionally well for us lately, contributing on the penalty kill and matching up against top lines.”

Alexander Romanov was unable to skate in the morning session due to illness and will miss tonight’s game, according to Roy. Likewise, Adam Boqvist is also sidelined with an illness and will not be available for the lineup.

Consequently, Pelech and Tony DeAngelo will pair up for the first time this season. Roy noted that both defensemen have been effective on their own throughout the season and expressed confidence in their collaboration as a duo.

“They’ve both been playing very well individually,” Roy commented. “We expect them to replicate the strong performances they’ve delivered with their other partners. We need a solid game from them.”
