Browns Linked to Surprising Possible Reunion with Star Playmaker
Could the Cleveland Browns actually bring back this star playmaker?
While the Browns’ top priority remains securing a quarterback, they also need to bolster their offensive weapons for whoever takes the reins in 2025.
Outside of Jerry Jeudy, Cleveland lacks proven wide receivers, and there’s been little urgency to address the position in free agency. This is partly due to the team’s financial limitations, which may mean they’ll wait until the NFL Draft to find a solution.
However, Dante Walker of Dawg Pound Daily suggested several receivers the Browns might target, and one surprising name came up: Amari Cooper.
“Whether Cooper would be interested in a reunion is uncertain, but his performance in Cleveland is not,” Walker wrote. “He had an impressive two seasons, including a Pro Bowl appearance in 2023.”
The Browns traded Cooper to the Buffalo Bills last October, receiving a third-round pick in return. The move worked out well for Cleveland, as Cooper struggled with the Bills.
Cooper, who joined the Browns in 2022, had two strong seasons before experiencing a rough start to 2024. At 30 years old, questions linger about how much the five-time Pro Bowler has left to offer.
Would the Browns consider bringing him back? It seems unlikely, and it’s hard to imagine Cooper wanting to return to Cleveland at this stage of his career.
However, if Cooper remains unsigned for too long, he might be open to joining any team that offers him a contract—even if that team is the Browns.
