Bengals Reportedly Targeting 31-Year-Old Saints Starter
The Cincinnati Bengals are reportedly exploring ways to strengthen their offensive line and are reportedly eyeing a former New Orleans Saints player.
Lucas Patrick, who joined the Saints for the 2024 season, has had a lengthy NFL career, spending seven seasons with the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears before moving to New Orleans. He spent five years with the Packers, followed by two years with the Bears, and last year played with the Saints.
In 2024, Patrick appeared in 11 games, starting 10 of them. He is now said to be visiting the Bengals, according to FOX Sports NFL Insider Jordan Schultz.
“Sources: The Bengals will host veteran G/C Lucas Patrick on a free-agent visit tomorrow,” Schultz tweeted. “He’ll arrive tonight. Patrick has started 64 games in his career and spent last season with the Saints. Cincinnati is actively looking for offensive line help.”
This isn’t Patrick’s only visit this offseason. On March 17th, he reportedly met with the Seattle Seahawks, as shared by Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football.
“Saints free agent guard Lucas Patrick visited the Seahawks today,” Underhill wrote.
Over the course of his eight-year NFL career, Patrick has played in 107 games, with 64 starts. While the Bengals have made major moves this offseason, such as extending Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, they don’t have a lot of cap space. Patrick could be a cost-effective veteran addition with valuable experience.
