Gophers Schedule Official Visit with Rising 2026 Pass Rusher
Minnesota has secured an official visit with one of California’s most underrated recruits.
On Thursday, Sarrel Howard, a 2026 edge defender from Inglewood, California, announced he has scheduled an official visit with the Gophers for later this year. He will visit during Minnesota’s annual Summer Splash event, set for May 30 to June 1.
At 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, Howard is slightly undersized for a traditional defensive end, but he had an impressive junior season at Inglewood High School. He recorded 11 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, and 64 total tackles from his edge position.

Although Howard is currently unranked on the 247Sports Composite, he has received offers from top programs like Maryland, Arizona State, and Syracuse. He also has official visits lined up with Boston College and San Diego State.
Howard becomes the 20th recruit in the 2026 class to schedule an official visit for Minnesota’s Summer Splash event. He joins defensive linemen Freddie Wilson and Kamron Wilson, making up a unique group for new defensive line coaches Dennis Dottin-Carter and C.J. Robbins to focus on.
