The UNC basketball staff has shown interest in former Nevada player Nick Davidson.
On Monday, Nick Davidson revealed his intention to enter the transfer portal as an experienced player following his redshirt junior season with the Nevada Wolf Pack. Just two days later, the 6-foot-10, 238-pound forward from Mission Viejo, California, is attracting interest from numerous potential teams, including the UNC basketball program.
As reported by On3’s Joe Tipton, teams such as Kentucky, St. John’s, Louisville, Purdue, Texas Tech, Arizona, Cal, Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Providence, Stanford, Southern Cal, Virginia Tech, and several others are also expressing interest.
This season, which marked his second as a full-time starter at Nevada, Davidson achieved a career-best average of 15.8 points per game, along with 6.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.2 blocks. He shot 50.0% from the field, 37.1% from three-point range, and 69.9% from the free-throw line, contributing to the Wolf Pack’s overall record of 17-16. He was recognized on the All-Mountain West Second Team after earning Third Team honors the previous year.
Considering fourth-year UNC basketball head coach Hubert Davis and his cohorts came up empty in a handful of their primary portal pursuits last go-round, it should come as no surprise that the Tar Heels are getting a head start on reaching out to transfers despite the fact their March Madness journey hasn’t even ended yet.
