Buzz Williams and Texas A&M Deliver Another Crushing Update on Key Player

Texas A&M Forward Joins NCAA Transfer Portal

The Texas A&M Aggies have lost another player to the NCAA Transfer Portal. Freshman forward Rob Dockery announced his decision to enter the portal via social media.

“I would like to announce that I will be entering the transfer portal,” Dockery posted. “Thank you to Texas A&M for giving me a home! I am excited for the next chapter in my career.”

Dockery, standing 6-6 and weighing 205 pounds, came to Texas A&M as a three-star recruit from Washington, D.C. He was a standout at Jackson-Reed High School, averaging 14 points, six rebounds, and three assists per game. His performance helped lead his team to a 28-8 record and a spot in the DCIAA championship game, earning him the nickname “Mr. Versatility” from Texas A&M Athletics.

At A&M, Dockery struggled to find playing time. He redshirted his freshman year and spent time on the scout team. In the 2024-25 season, he appeared in just one game, recording an assist but no points or rebounds in a season-opening loss to UCF.

By Nov. 22, less than two weeks into the season, a Texas A&M spokesperson confirmed that Dockery was no longer with the team, according to On3.

Dockery becomes the first former Aggies player to enter the transfer portal this offseason. With eight seniors, including the program’s all-time leading scorer Wade Taylor IV, playing their final game in the Aggies’ 91-79 second-round loss to Michigan, the team is set to undergo significant changes before next season.

Despite the loss, head coach Buzz Williams is focused on the future. “I’m incredibly proud of everyone, not just the players but the staff,” Williams said after Saturday’s game. “I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished throughout their tenure, including this year. But just as proud as I am of the accomplishments, I’m proud of the life changes.”

Williams also acknowledged the upcoming offseason work, noting, “Every coach knows the portal starts officially Monday, so I’m assuming we’ll travel tomorrow. I believe our staff is already ahead in terms of where we need to go, who we need to call, and what steps we need to take.”
