The Commodores went 4-0 in its games last week and were expected to move up in the latest top 25 rankings. Find out how big a move it was here.

In the SEC, every win carries extra weight, and Vanderbilt’s flawless week helped propel the Commodores back into the top 15 of the national rankings.

Vanderbilt (19-5, 4-2 SEC) went 4-0 last week, sweeping Texas A&M and securing a midweek victory over Belmont. As a result, they climbed significantly in both major college baseball rankings, now sitting at No. 14 in both the D1Baseball Top 25 Rankings and Baseball America’s College Baseball Top 25 Rankings. This marks an eight-spot jump in D1Baseball’s rankings and a four-spot improvement in Baseball America’s poll.

Baseball America highlighted Vanderbilt’s impressive showing:

“Vanderbilt took care of business in Week 6 with a midweek win over Belmont and a weekend sweep of a struggling Texas A&M squad, allowing it to move back into the top 15 after a brief absence. Freshman third baseman Brodie Johnston (5-for-15 with a home run and three RBIs) and first baseman Riley Nelson (5-for-12 with three doubles, a home run, and three RBIs) led the offense. Left-hander JD Thompson delivered a stellar performance, allowing just one run while striking out 10 over 6.1 innings. However, the Commodores have yet to string together back-to-back winning weeks—a challenge they’ll face as they host Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday before welcoming No. 2 Arkansas, which is off to the best start in program history, for a weekend series.”
