The No. 5 EDGE prospect in the class of 2026, Jamarion Carlton, announced his spring visits with four Division I football programs.

The Longhorns began their spring practices today, but that’s not the only thrilling development in the Texas football program.

As former players return to Austin for Texas’ Pro Day, some of the newer talents will step onto the field in their burnt orange gear for the first time. Meanwhile, a notable recruit has set his sights on the Longhorns for one of his spring trips.

Four-star edge rusher Jamarion Carlton announced that he will make four spring visits over four consecutive weekends, including to the USC Trojans, Texas A&M Aggies, Michigan Wolverines, and Texas Longhorns.

Carlton, ranked as the No. 5 EDGE prospect for the class of 2026, has received offers from both the Aggies and Longhorns, while he is still waiting for official offers from the Wolverines and Trojans. According to On3, the Texas native is expected to join the Longhorns’ roster.

Carlton began playing varsity football for his team as a sophomore in 2023 and continued through the 2024 season. During the past two seasons, he recorded a total of 86 tackles (52 solo), along with eight sacks and four pass deflections.

Gabe Brooks, a scouting analyst from 247Sports, described Carlton as a “physically and athletically talented front-line defender” who has the potential to play on the edge long-term or add weight to become a true defensive lineman, thanks to his large frame.

Brooks also noted that Carlton possesses surprising speed for a player of his size (6-foot-4.5, 238 pounds), and he is physically imposing on the field.

Currently, Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian hold the No. 10 ranking for the class of 2026 prospects. However, they recently secured the top spot for the class of 2025, followed closely by the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide.

Carlton is scheduled to visit Austin for a spring visit on April 12. While he hasn’t planned an official visit with the Longhorns yet, he will be taking official visits with the Baylor Bears (June 20), Texas A&M Aggies (June 12), and SMU Mustangs (June 6).
