Saints Re-signing 27-Year-Old Super Bowl Champion
The New Orleans Saints have been one of the most active teams in the league this offseason.
New Orleans has managed to keep turnover lower than expected, mainly due to contract restructures and adjustments for players like Derek Carr, Cam Jordan, and Tyrann Mathieu, among others. The Saints have also made moves to retain key free agents, including Chase Young and Juwan Johnson.
Clearly satisfied with their roster from last season, the Saints made another move on Monday to limit turnover by re-signing 27-year-old safety Ugo Amadi, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
“Saints re-signed defensive back Ugo Amadi to a one-year contract,” Schefter tweeted.
Amadi played in just 11 games last season, but had some of the best performances of his six-year NFL career. He posted career highs in passes defended (7), sacks (2), total tackles (65), solo tackles (52), tackles for loss (6), and quarterback hits (2).
Amadi has previously played for the Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, and Saints. He was part of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl-winning team in the 2022 NFL season.
Now, he will look to help the Saints reach similar success in 2025. After a tough 2024 season, New Orleans appears to be on a better path, though a Super Bowl win is not guaranteed. They might surprise some, but they’re certainly positioning themselves to be stronger in 2025.
