Texas Longhorns to Host 2026 Top-ranked DL on Visit
The Texas Longhorns are aiming for a second consecutive No. 1 ranked recruiting class. As spring practice kicks off on Tuesday, the team will not only begin preparations for the upcoming season but also for the potential to secure another top-tier recruiting class, hosting prospects for unofficial visits throughout the spring.
According to a report from 247Sports’ Jordan Scruggs, Texas will welcome Jamarion Carlton to campus for a visit this spring. The Temple, Texas native has planned four unofficial visits, one of which will be to Austin.
Carlton’s spring visit schedule is as follows:

April 19: Texas A&M
Standing at 6-foot-4 and 238 pounds, Carlton is ranked as the No. 1 defensive lineman in the 2026 class by the 247Sports composite. He is also the No. 5 player in Texas and No. 39 nationally.
In terms of his scouting report, 247Sports’ Gabe Brooks describes Carlton as a “physically and athletically gifted front-line defender who could play from the edge or bulk up to a true defensive lineman due to his impressive frame.” Brooks adds, “He plays upright at times and will need to develop more fluidity and flexibility, but with experience, his move set should expand. He has one of the highest upsides among front-line defenders in Texas high school football’s 2026 class.”
Along with his spring visits, Carlton has also scheduled official visits for this summer. So far, he has three official visits lined up: Texas A&M, SMU, and Baylor. Although Texas is not yet scheduled to host him officially, the Longhorns are widely considered the frontrunners for his commitment.
