‘I’m Not Interested in My Old Air Raid’: Nebraska Football OC Dana Holgorsen and Dylan Raiola Meet with the Media
Nebraska offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen, along with quarterback Dylan Raiola, wide receiver Jacory Barney, and tight end Luke Lindemeyer, addressed the media on Thursday following the team’s third spring practice.
Holgorsen expressed satisfaction with the progress made since the beginning of spring practices.
“The offseason was great, learned a lot,” Holgorsen said. “Three days into spring, the effort and energy have been really good.”
Reflecting on his transition into the role of interim OC late last season, Holgorsen believes it was a valuable experience.
“Those four games were important,” he explained. “If I had just stepped in this January, my head would’ve been spinning. I can’t stress how helpful that time was.”
While some fans had concerns about Holgorsen’s reputation for running an air raid offense, he clarified that this style is not in the plans for Nebraska.
“I’m not interested in my old air raid,” Holgorsen stated. “If you need to run the ball, you need to run the ball.”
Regarding the quarterback room, Holgorsen is pleased to have veteran Jalyn Gramstad returning to back up Raiola and provide depth.
“(We) call him Granddad,” Holgorsen joked. “He’s the veteran. He’s a great leader with tons of experience. I’m glad he came back. He gives us another player who knows the offense.”
