Highly Ranked Former Five-Star Recruit Now on NC State Basketball’s Radar

Cavs Star Tristan Thompson Sends 3-Word Message to Bronny James

Tristan Thompson shared a brief post on X for Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny James.

As the 2023-24 season began, former five-star recruit Jalil Bethea was expected to play a key role for the Miami Hurricanes, who were aiming for a strong season in the ACC. However, the Hurricanes faced a disappointing year, and Bethea has decided to explore other options by entering the transfer portal for his sophomore year.

Bethea, ranked No. 7 in the 2024 class by 247Sports, is expected to be a highly sought-after player, with several top programs likely to pursue him.

NC State, led by Will Wade, is reportedly one of the schools making a strong push to bring the 6-foot-5, 190-pound transfer on board for the next season. According to New York Times’ Adam Zagoria, the Wolfpack is among several teams that have already reached out to Bethea since his portal entry.

In his lone season at Miami, Bethea averaged 7.1 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game in 18.9 minutes. He shot 32.6% from beyond the arc.

Along with NC State, Bethea has garnered interest from schools such as Alabama, Florida, Kansas, Memphis, Ohio State, Seton Hall, Saint Joseph’s, VCU, and Miami’s new coaching staff.
