Broncos Meet with Potential ‘Standout’ Linebacker
The Denver Broncos recently conducted a pre-draft visit with Indiana linebacker Jailin Walker, a projected Day 3 pick, according to 9NEWS insider Mike Klis. Walker is the second player from Indiana to meet with the Broncos, following offensive tackle Trey Weding.
Klis reported on March 28 that the Broncos held one of their 30 official visits with Walker. Although he’s a bit lighter at 218 pounds, Walker impressed scouts with his athleticism, showcasing his abilities in the long jump and vertical jump at his Pro Day. He has the potential to make an impact on special teams early on, with the possibility to develop further from there.
The 6-foot-1 Walker began his college career at James Madison before transferring to Indiana for the 2024 season. Over his career, he accumulated 101 solo tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 17 pass deflections, 5.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, five interceptions, and two defensive touchdowns.
Pro Football Focus highlighted Walker’s solid performance, noting his 82.6 defensive grade and an 84.5 run-defense grade, both of which align with the NFL linebacker average.
Though Walker wasn’t invited to last month’s NFL Scouting Combine, he showcased impressive numbers at his Pro Day, including a 35-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-7-inch broad jump, both of which would have ranked among the top linebackers at the Combine.
While Walker is slightly undersized for an outside linebacker at 6’1″ and 220 pounds, his speed and ability to cover sideline-to-sideline, as well as his capacity to cover tight ends and running backs, make him an appealing option for NFL teams. His current projection is for the 5th to 7th rounds of the draft.
In addition to meeting with Walker and Weding, the Broncos have reportedly engaged or will meet with several other prospects, including Texas State offensive lineman Nash Jones, Texas running back Jaydon Blue, Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins, Kansas State running back D.J. Giddens, Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson, North Dakota State quarterback Cam Miller, and South Carolina punter Kai Kroeger.
