Chicago Bears safety Jaquan Brisker is facing an uncertain future in the NFL after experiencing multiple concussions, but his latest heartfelt message to fans indicates he’s determined to return in 2025. The Bears will enter the 2025 NFL Draft with a solid roster, but it’s expected that GM Ryan Poles will prioritize selecting a safety early in the draft.
Current starters Kevin Byard and Jaquan Brisker both have concerns heading into this season. Byard will be 32 in Week 1 and is in the final year of his contract. Brisker, on the other hand, missed most of last season due to concussion-related issues, a situation that raises concerns well beyond football.
The need for a safety could be significant enough for Poles to invest a second-round pick in the position. This is a growing trend in recent 2025 mock drafts and has certainly caught Brisker’s attention.

Brisker’s Role in the Bears’ Success
Brisker only played in five games last season, and it’s no coincidence that his absence had a significant impact on the team.
With Brisker on the field, the Bears were 3-2. Without him, they were 2-10. While there were other issues, such as Andrew Billings’ season-ending injury and coaching struggles, Brisker’s leadership and presence in the secondary were greatly missed.
It’s hard to be certain that Brisker will return to his pre-injury level of play. Known for his aggressive style, players like him often face shorter careers, and there’s a possibility that this could be the reality for Brisker, who was a second-round pick in Poles’ first draft.
For now, Brisker is expected to be the starting safety, but the Bears need a solid backup plan in case he experiences another concussion. If that happens, the team must prioritize his long-term health above football. Building strong depth, potentially through the 2025 NFL Draft, will be crucial in ensuring this.
