New NC State basketball head coach Will Wade is eyeing Antonio Chol, a JUCO forward who began his college career at Rutgers.

In his first year leading NC State basketball, Will Wade has made it clear he’s not hesitant to target junior college transfers. Earlier this week, the 42-year-old coach and his staff reached out to Treshawn Cody, and it appears they’re continuing to explore that route.

This time, however, the junior college prospect on NC State’s radar has previous experience at the high-major level.

According to 247Sports’ Dushawn London, the Wolfpack contacted Garden City Community College transfer Antonio Chol on Saturday afternoon, adding their name to a growing list of Division I programs showing interest.

Chol previously played for two seasons at Rutgers in the Big Ten, although he was mainly a rarely-used reserve there. After transferring to Garden City, he thrived during his single season with the Broncbusters. The 6-foot-9, 220-pound wing averaged 19.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game at Garden City, achieving a 39.5 percent success rate on his 3-point shots.

In addition to his interest from the Wolfpack, over a dozen other programs have shown interest in this promising talent. Arizona State, California, Duquesne, LSU, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Providence, Seton Hall, Saint Joseph’s, Villanova, Virginia, and Washington have all been in touch.

So far, NC State basketball has not secured any commitments during this year’s transfer cycle. However, Wade and his team have been exploring several options since their first week on the job.
