HUGE BOOST: Purdue Football Yet Again Receive Big Commitment News

Purdue Football Adds Michigan Linebacker to 2026 Recruiting Class

Purdue has secured its second commitment for the 2026 recruiting class with the addition of Brayden Sweeney, a three-star linebacker from Michigan. Sweeney announced his verbal commitment to the Boilermakers over the weekend, choosing Purdue over offers from eight other schools.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker from Grand Rapids, Michigan, shared his decision via a social media post on Saturday. He joins offensive tackle Rico Schrieber in Purdue’s 2026 class.

Sweeney, rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports, is ranked among the top 150 linebackers in the 2026 recruiting cycle. Other schools that offered him a scholarship include Bowling Green, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Coastal Carolina, Eastern Michigan, Miami (Ohio), Toledo, and Western Michigan.

While Purdue’s recruiting class is still small, currently ranked 81st nationally and last in the Big Ten, the team plans to focus on expanding its 2026 class during the offseason.
