IOWA CITY, Iowa—Freshman guard Aaliyah Guyton from the Hawkeyes has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to 247Sports. This season, Guyton averaged 4.7 points per game, contributing significantly with some key shots.
The daughter of former Indiana star AJ Guyton, she was one of the top players in the Midwest during the 2024 recruiting cycle, though her senior year was cut short due to a torn ACL. Her scoring ability, knack for creating plays for her teammates, and strong self-belief helped establish her as one of the leading guards in the region.
“I’ve always felt prepared to be called from the bench,” Guyton stated. “During that time, I ensure I understand my role. It’s actually easier to observe from the bench, take mental notes on what’s happening, and then step onto the court to contribute.”
Guyton had two games with double-digit scoring against Big Ten opponents and was recognized for her fearless play. Additionally, she was a standout on-ball defender.
“She has been the most reliable player coming off the bench,” Jensen remarked. “I’ve struggled to find a ball-handler for press situations. I’ve had to manage her minutes as she returns, but she is nearly back to full strength. She finishes well at the rim, can hit threes, and plays tight defense.”
