Head coach Jon Haruguchi announced on Tuesday, April 1, that Adrian Leiser has joined the coaching staff as an assistant coach. Leiser comes to the team from Seattle University, having previously served at Gonzaga and Weber State.

“I am excited to welcome Adrian Leiser as an assistant coach for our volleyball program,” said Haruguchi. “He comes highly recommended by several coaches, and after meeting him during the interview process, I understood why. With his experience in the Big Sky Conference and our region, I am confident that he will be a valuable addition to our program. With the Eagles, Leiser will be working with the middles and will place an emphasis on blocking techniques.”

“I want to express my gratitude to Jon Haruguchi for bringing me onto the staff at EWU,” said Adrian Leiser. “I’m eager to get started and work closely with the players and other coaches toward achieving a Big Sky championship. Go Eags!”

Leiser spent one season at Seattle, where the team recorded an 8-19 overall record and a 6-10 mark in conference play, primarily focusing on the middles and blocking strategies with the Redhawks.

Before his time at Seattle, Leiser was an assistant coach and director of operations for Katie Wilson’s staff at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, where he mainly worked with the middles and passers, in addition to handling statistical analysis and serving as the technical coordinator.

Prior to his role at Gonzaga, Leiser volunteered as an assistant coach at Weber State University for two seasons. During his time in Ogden, Utah, the Wildcats achieved a 41-12 record, winning two regular season Big Sky championships, one Big Sky Tournament championship, and securing the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament victory. His responsibilities included player development and statistical analysis.

A native of Minnesota, Leiser earned his bachelor’s degree in mass communications with a focus on journalism from the University of Utah in 2013. Aside from coaching, he has also worked in sports broadcasting as a radio producer for the Utah Jazz and has covered various professional and collegiate events. Leiser is married to his wife, Amanda, and they have two dogs and two cats.
