Kansas State’s Chris Klieman Makes Thoughts Clear On NCAA Football Roster Cap

Wildcats coach Chris Klieman is “not a fan” of the new 105-player rule for the college football rosters.

Many college football programs are preparing for the House v. NCAA settlement, which limits rosters to a maximum of 105 players.

Kansas State coach Chris Klieman is opposed to this new rule, as it will force the Wildcats to cut several players from the team, a decision he strongly condemned during his Wednesday press conference.

“Let me be clear, I’m not in favor of this at all,” Klieman stated. “We have many kids who want to be part of the program but won’t have that chance. With the transfer portal also opening in April, there are some positives for those players who don’t make the 105, allowing them to seek opportunities elsewhere. However, our top players are being contacted daily; it may not be them directly, but their agents are informing them that they’ve lost someone during spring ball.”

Klieman believes this situation unfairly deprives players of opportunities who genuinely wish to play for Kansas State.

“We have to let go of a lot of kids, and it’s frustrating, I’ll be honest,” Klieman remarked. “Many kids want to be here and have invested their time, effort, and resources into this program. Now, those kids are left with tough choices. It frustrates me because I can’t comprehend why the cap is set at 105.”
